Seminar on home buying
The Veterans Home Buying Collaboration is hosting a free seminar to help veterans understand VA loans. The event is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in Room 133 of the University of Southern Maine Wishcamper Center, 34 Bedford St.
The Veterans Home Buying Collaborative is a group of local nonprofit, lending and real estate organizations dedicated to explaining the loan process. Its goal is to educate veterans about VA guaranteed loans and the process of obtaining one, without pressuring them to buy.

Elks hosting Waban fundraiser
Sanford Elks will host a Jammin’ for Waban fundraiser from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at 13 Elm St. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The evening will feature raffles, a silent auction, refreshments, a cash bar and live musical performances by The Substitutes, Optical Confusion, Northern Charm and Rosie.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Waban office on Route 4 or by calling Selena Brock at 324-7955, ext. 622, or emailing sbrock@waban.org.
Proceeds are to benefit the new autism therapy wing for the Fraser-Ford Child Development Center.
