The DaPonte String Quartet is giving its fans an early Christmas present this weekend, with a series of concerts featuring little-known masterpieces – Haydn's "Razor" Quartet in F Minor, Op. 55, No. 2; three pieces by John Adams from "John's Book of Alleged Dances"; and, in celebration of his 100th anniversary, Giusseppe Verdi's only string quartet, in E Minor.

The final concerts will be at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Rines Auditorium of the Portland Public Library and 3 p.m. Sunday at Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church in Topsham.
