Happy holidays from the folks at MECA

PORTLAND — Maine College of Art’s annual Holiday Sale will take place Friday and Saturday throughout three floors of the Porteous Building in downtown Portland. The curated art sale is produced by the Artist at Work team in partnership with MECA design students to benefit MECA’s education, outreach, and student programs, and provide an opportunity for students, alumni, faculty and staff to sell handmade arts, crafts and gifts for the holiday season.

This year, MECA will feature six artists selected by the jury: Dietlind Vander Schaaf; Marian Baker, Islesford Pottery; Olan Boardman, Ktaadn; Aaron Decker, Metals Collective; Miles Spadone, spadone; Tyler Grenzeback, Til Death Tattoo.

Each featured artist has donated a work of art to be raffled during the sale. The MECA sale is free event, and visitors are encouraged to purchase a $5 raffle ticket. Donations received from the raffle will be used to support student programing and scholarships.

Visitors will also have the option to take a group photo in the Holiday Sale photo booth. Treats, snacks and coffee will be served at the MECA Cafe.

Sale hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. MECA is at 522 Congress St., Portland.
