Beal named Gatorade boys' basketball player of the year

Garet Beal of Jonesport-Beals High School has been chosen as the Gatorade Maine Boys' Basketball Player of the Year.

The 6-foot-5 guard/forward averaged 33.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game this season

Beal is his school's all-time leading scorer with 1,628 points. He sparked the Royals to an 18-1 record this season. Beal was recently named the state's Mr. Basketball. He has signed a national letter of intent to play next season at the University of Maine.
