HOUSTON — Former President George H.W. Bush is becoming more physically active but doctors in Houston are still not ready to discharge him from the hospital.
Bush has been in the Methodist Hospital since Nov. 23 for treatment of a bronchitis-related cough.
Hospital spokesman George Kovacik says the 41st president remains in stable condition Thursday.
Kovacik says doctors are pleased with Bush's progress but are being cautious with his care and are not ready to send him home.
Doctors say Bush's ailment is not life-threatening.
Bush and his wife, Barbara, divide their time between their homes in Houston and Kennebunkport, Maine.
