LeGage resigns as Deering High basketball coach

Dan LeGage has resigned as Deering High boys' basketball coach after 11 seasons and two Class A state championships.

LeGage's wife, Trisha, is pregnant with the couple's second child, a boy. She is expecting in July. The couple has a six-year old son named Lucas.

"I have to spend more time with my family with my wife expecting our second son," said LeGage, who will continue to teach science at Deering.

LeGage had an overall record of 145-70 and his teams won Class A state titles in 2006 and 2012, both times beating Hampden Academy. The 2006 championship was Deering's first ever boys' state title.
LeGage said he hopes to get back into coaching someday, but for the next few years, needs to spend more time with his family.

The Rams were 15-4 this season. They were seeded second in the tournament, but were upset by No. 7 Thornton Academy in the quarterfinals.
