Biddeford man accidentally shoots own knee

BIDDEFORD — A man accidentally shot himself in the knee this morning while cleaning his gun, police said.

The man was taken to Southern Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries from the .45-caliber automatic weapon, said Biddeford Deputy Police Chief JoAnne Fisk.

"This was nothing more than accidental," she said.

The incident occurred at 21 Harding St. Fisk did not identify the man.
