Man killed, border agent wounded in Maine shooting

JACKMAN — A Maine border patrol agent is recovering from a gunshot wound following a weekend shooting that left another man dead at a home in Jackman.

The medical examiner's office determined on Monday that 75-year-old Charles Robinson died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Three border patrol agents responded to a domestic dispute Saturday night after receiving a call for help from the Somerset County Sheriff's Department.

A spokeswoman for Customs and Border Protection says a person in the house opened fire on the agents, who shot back. State police later entered the home and found Robinson dead.

The name of the injured agent, who was hit by shotgun pellets, has not been released. The Maine attorney general is investigating.
