Firefighters battle pellet mill fire in Strong

STRONG — More than 20 firefighters, including ones with ladder trucks, are working to extinguish a fire at the Geneva Wood Fuels pellet mill in Strong.

More than twenty firefighters, including ones with ladder trucks, are working to extinguish a fire at the Geneva Wood Fuels pellet mill in Strong.

Travis Viles, 18, of Strong, a mill employee for five months, said he was working with another employee at about 8 a.m. when he noticed some hot embers falling from the bagging room where was working.

He said there were about 10 employees working at the plant at the time and all escaped safely.
