Police reported robberies Monday in Biddeford and Arundel, the latest in a string of holdups in southern Maine.

Just before 9 p.m., an employee at the Family Dollar Store at 321 Elm St. in Biddeford called police to report that two men wearing disguises had entered the business, shown a weapon and left with a small amount of money, police said.

Police did not release details about the disguises or the weapon on Tuesday.

At 8 p.m. Monday, an employee of the Arundel Market reported a robbery, which is being investigated by the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy William King said a man entered the market at 1144 Portland Road, pulled out a handgun and demanded money.

King said it’s not clear if the robberies are related but police are sharing information.

Biddeford police also reported robberies on Thursday at the Super Sub Shop on Jefferson Street, on Saturday at the Red Rocket Smoke Shop at 80 Birch St., on Sunday at Tim Horton’s at 426 Alfred St., and on Sunday night at the Yummy House Chinese Restaurant at 20 Alfred St. The Chinese restaurant is across the street from the police station.

In each case, a man described as 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, who partially disguised his face, entered the business, showed a weapon and demanded money. He left on foot with a small amount of cash.

Police say they have leads, but ask that anyone with information call them at 282-5127.
