MANCHESTER — Maine State Police have asked for assistance from authorities in Virginia to notify the family of a man whose skeletal remains were found by hunters Saturday in Manchester.
A Virginia driver’s license was found with the remains, leading police in Maine to make a tentative identification. No foul play is suspected, according to Stepehen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
After relatives have been notified, police will attempt to retrace the man’s steps and determine why he was in Maine, McCausland said Monday.
The remains were found about 200 yards off Puddledock Road, and likely were there more than a year, he said.
