Woman charged in death of 7-year-old Boston girl

Police say drunk driving caused car to jump curb.

The Associated Press

BOSTON – A woman is headed to court in Boston to face charges that she was driving drunk when she struck and killed a 7-year-old girl walking home from school.

Olivia Mora is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Dorchester District Court on charges including drunken driving and motor vehicle homicide.

Police say the 36-year-old Mora’s SUV was speeding down a Boston street at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, struck a parked vehicle, jumped the curb, and knocked over a hydrant before striking the girl and her mother while they walked along the sidewalk. The girl’s mother was severely hurt.

Police say Mora lived in Boston, but the corporate logo on her SUV indicated that she worked for a company in Concord, N.H.

It was not clear if she had hired a lawyer.
