Storm forces rescheduling of funeral for warden Sanborn

The weekend snowstorm forced rescheduling of the funeral for Maj. Gregory Sanborn, second-in-command of the Maine Warden Service.

A celebration of life ceremony honoring Sanborn will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, 15 Oak Grove Road in Vassalboro. The 23-year veteran of the warden service died Tuesday from cancer at age 47.

The events were rescheduled because Sanborn's family wanted to make sure that everyone who wants to attend can travel safely.

Maine Diocese pays tribute to health care professionals

Maine's Roman Catholic Diocese paid tribute Sunday to health care professionals and caregivers during the church's annual White Mass.

In Lewiston, White Mass services were held at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul.

The Mass celebrates doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, therapists and others by offering a blessing for their contributions to the healing mission. It is named for the color of the vestments worn during the day, and for the color associated with the medical profession.

The Mass is intended to coincide with the World Day of Prayer for the Sick, which takes place Monday.
