Tables available for Mayfair

Tables are available to rent for individuals who wish to sell their wares at the Bath Knights of Columbus Yard Sale & Lunch Cafe on Mayfair day, Saturday, May 4.

The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 807 Middle St.

Cost is $10 for a table, indoor or outdoor.

Garden club meeting

The Bath Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St.

The dinner program will include a presentation on ospreys by Dr. Herb Wilson.


Pet adoption event

The Animal Welfare Society will celebrate National Pet Adoption Weekend this Thursday through Sunday at the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Event at Biddeford Crossing, off Route 111.

The Mobile Adoption Team will visit the store with adoptable dogs throughout the weekend.

Feline adoption counselors also will be available in the store from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Fundraising bingo event

The Saco Jets Baton Twirling Club will hold a "Designer Bag" bingo fundraiser event at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rochambeau Club, 329 South St. Doors open at noon.

For a $20 pre-purchased ticket, or $30 at the door, gamers will receive 24 cards for each regular game, as well as two "starburst" and two "bonanza" cards.

There also will be a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.

Proceeds raised will directly benefit Saco Jets to help defray the cost of a trip to the United States Twirling Association's national championships this summer in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Learn about heart health

Southern Maine Medical Center is joining forces with the MaineHealth Learning Resource Center to offer the program The Beat Goes On, beginning Thursday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at SMMC PrimeCare Physicians, located at 9 Healthcare Drive in Biddeford.

The series will teach about heart health issues, how to manage heart conditions and how to connect with others who have heart problems. Successive classes will be held on Thursdays through May 23 at the same time and location.

The cost to participate is $5 per person for the entire series.

Scholarships are available.

Space is limited so pre-registration is required by calling (866) 609-5183.

Tech center honors students

Biddeford Regional Center of Technology recently honored students Morgan Burke, from business & financial management, and Chad Bertrand, from auto body drafting-engineering & architecture, as students of the month for February.

The Bank of Maine donated monetary awards to the students.

Other students nominated for consideration included: Bryan Bedard, Chris Daniels, Steven Doherty, Mariah Fecteau, Aaron Hensley, Miranda Nemitz, Dylan Ruel, Jeff Thompson and Ying Yi Xu.

Walk Eastern Trail at night

A Full Moon Walk on the Eastern Trail will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with attendees meeting at the Eastern Trail entrance at the rear of the Southern Maine Medical Center parking lot.

The group will proceed to Arundel, without artificial illumination, in hopes of observing nocturnal creatures.

Return to the parking lot will be at about 9 p.m.
