Military Notes, Sept. 21, 2011

Navy Seaman Recruit Jadus I. Bare, brother of Zebulon Bare of Kittery, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Bare is a 2005 graduate of Chestatee High School, Gainesville, Ga.

Pamela (Greene) Unger, daughter of Peter and Katherine Greene of Buxton, has recently been promoted to major in the Marine Corps. She is a 1991 graduate of Bonny Eagle High School and is the comptroller at USMC Air Station at New River, N.C.

The Maine National Guard has announced the August promotions of the following soldiers:

2nd Lt. John Kiel, Saco, Joint Forces Headquarters.

Pfc. Josiah Knights, Raymond, 488th Military Police Company.

Pfc. Victoria Leavitt, Lyman, 152nd Maintenance Company.

Sgt. Cory Major, Brunswick, MEARNG Medical Detachment.

Pv2 Kaylar Masellas, Wells, Detachment 1, 1136th Transportation Company.

Sgt. Robert Morissette, Alfred, Detachment 1, 1136th Transportation Company.

Pfc. Theodore Phadungthin, Portland, 152nd Maintenance Company.
