PORTLAND — Swedish goalie Nikla Svedberg stopped 36 shots to lead the Providence Bruins to a 2-1 win against the Portland Pirates Saturday night in an AHL game at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
The Bruins, making their first visit of the season to Maine, held a 2-0 lead at the end of two periods on goals by Bobby Robins and rookie Ryan Spooner.
With 10 minutes left in the game, Pirates’ rookie Phil Lane scored his first goal as a pro to spoil Svedberg’s bid for his first shutout of the season.
