The Rising Tide, a U19 ultimate frisbee team, finished second in the Mixed Division of the National Youth Club Championships held Aug. 10-11 in Blaine, Minn.

The team of 30 players from 11 schools -- including Falmouth, Greely, Cape Elizabeth, Casco Bay, Deering, Merriconeag, Waynflete, Islesboro, Windham, Phillips Exeter and the University of New Hampshire -- beat teams from San Francisco, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Seattle and Minneapolis before losing to a team from Boston in the championship game.
The Maine Amateur Wrestling Alliance celebrated its 25th anniversary Aug. 3 at Hyde School in Bath and inducted five former wrestlers -- Dr. Thomas Ward, Douglas Gilbert, Jon Kane, Maynard Pelletier and Rusty Smith -- into the Maine Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Other honorees included Robert Ewing of Mt. Ararat High as Person of the Year; Luis Ayala of Dover-Foxcroft High as Coach of the Year; Dan Del Gallo of Gardiner as Wrestler of the Year; and Chuck Alexander as past president.
John Haddad made his first hole-in-one July 22 at Portland Country Club. Haddad, playing with Stephanie Haddad, Bob Drew and Bob Fuller, used his pitching wedge on the 125-yard fourth hole.
Patrick Keniston carded a hole-in-one on the 178-yard ninth hole at Bath Golf Club on July 28, using a 3-hybrid. The shot was witnessed by Mark Fairbanks and Nish Bhatnagar.
Peter Nadeau aced the eighth hole at Biddeford-Saco Country Club on Aug. 8. Nadeau used a 6-iron for the 155-yard shot, which was seen by Chico Corriveau, Roland Couture and Ron Couture.
Cindy Gelinas scored a hole-in-one on the 89-yard 13th hole at Fox Ridge Golf Club on Aug. 15. The shot was witnessed by Diane Stone, Michael Ginty and Bob Markley. She previously aced the fifth hole at Fox Ridge in 2012.
