Orchestras launch their own World Series

Boston Symphony goes trumpet to trumpet with St. Louis Symphony to support the home teams.

Sporting Red Sox and Cardinals jerseys, respectively, the muscians of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra made some noise to show their support for the home teams. In this video, a few good-natured “insults” are exchanged back and forth before BSO Music Director (and Red Sox fan) Seiji Ozawa raises his fist and snarls: “Bring it on,” launching the dueling orchestras into a symphonic mash-up of “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

The video was made by Michael Martin, the BSO’s 4th trumpet, to commemorate the 2013 World Series, which gets underway at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Fenway Park, Boston.
