Ryan Kalish has been a quick learner with the Boston Red Sox after receiving a July 31 call-up. He has the tools to become a prolific player in the next couple seasons.

The Associated Press

11. Lars Anderson (13), 22, first base. Still young and talented, but in search of a consistent season.

12. Junichi Tazawa (1), 24, pitcher. This will be a year for Tazawa to work his way back after Tommy John surgery last spring.

13. Yamaico Navarro (17), 22, infielder. Great tools. Versatile. Looking for consistent effort.

14. Robert Coello (NR), 25, pitcher. A converted catcher in his fourth year as a pitcher, Coello struck out 130 in 107 innings in Portland and Pawtucket. A dark horse for the 2011 pen.

15. Luis Exposito (9), 23, catcher. Solid year (.260/.756), with 94 RBI in Portland. Still needs work on defense.

16. Oscar Tejeda (NR), 20, infielder. Breakout year in Salem (.307/.799).

17. Will Middlebrooks (NR), 22, third base. Improves every year (.276/.770 in Salem).

18. Raymond Fuentes (12), 19, outfielder. Good year in Greenville (.270/.705, with 42 stolen bases).

19. Stolmy Pimental (19), 20, pitcher. After Kelly, Boston's best young starter (102 strikeouts in 128 innings in Salem).

20. Anthony Ranaudo (NR), 21, pitcher. Based on $2.5 million bonus, Boston's real No. 1 draft pick in 2010.

21. Drake Britton (NR), 21, pitcher. A lefty, with 78 strikeouts in 75 innings in Greenville.

22. Kyle Weiland (18), 24, pitcher. With his stuff (112 strikeouts in Portland), could move up fast in the bullpen.

23. Bubba Bell (NR), 27, outfielder. Batted .293/.765 for Pawtucket, but Boston has a lot of left-handed hitting outfielders.

24. Alex Wilson (14), 23, pitcher. Had 106 combined strikeouts in Salem and Portland.

25. Kendrick Volz (NR), 22, pitcher. In first pro season with Greenville, had 94 strikeouts and 14 walks.

26. Che-Hsuan Lin (NR), 21, outfielder. Fast, and a good fielder who batted .275/.728 in Portland.

27. Felix Sanchez (NR), 20, outfielder. A .323 average in Lowell with 38 stolen bases.

28. Dan Butler (NR), 23, catcher. Went from undrafted in 2009 to hitting combined .310/.893 in Greenville and Salem.

29. Jeremy Hazelbaker (NR), 23, outfielder. Hit .267/.815 with 63 stolen bases (in 80 tries).

30. Chris Balcom-Miller (NR), 21, pitcher. Obtained in Manny Delcarmen trade. Had 120 strikeouts and 19 walks in Class A.

31. Ryan Westmoreland (7), 20, outfield. Maybe not ready to return from brain surgery, but don't bet against him.

THREE PLAYERS were cut from last year's list -- third baseman Jorge Jimenez (16), who batted .217 in Pawtucket; and two catchers who tied for 20th, Dusty Brown (.218 in Pawtucket) and Tim Federowicz (.253 in Salem).
