DURHAM, N.H. – Gerald McLemore scored 25 points and Alasdair Fraser had 22 points and 10 rebounds as Maine ended a five-game losing streak with an 80-69 men’s basketball victory over New Hampshire on Wednesday night.

Justin Edwards added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Raheem Singleton had nine points and six assists for the Black Bears (9-10, 3-5 America East), who outscored New Hampshire 19-8 after the game was tied at 61 with 9:13 remaining.

Maine made 7 of 10 shots from the field during that run, including two baskets apiece by McLemore and Fraser, while the Wildcats (7-12, 2-6) were just 3 of 12 and committed five turnovers.

The Black Bears outshot New Hampshire overall 51.7 percent (30 of 58) to 37.7 percent (23 of 61) and outrebounded the Wildcats, 46-28.

Chandler Rhoads scored 17 points, Patrick Konan 16 and Brian Benson 15 to lead New Hampshire.

HUSSON 78, BATES 75: Marc Zaharchuk had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles (7-10), who took an 18-7 lead in the first eight minutes and held off the Bobcats (10-7) at Bangor.

John Squires had 22 points and 19 rebounds for Bates. Ed Bogdanovich added 12 points and seven boards.

Luke Matarazzo and Mark Brust hit consecutive 3-pointers to pull the Bobcats within two with 22 seconds to play, but after a free throw by Husson’s Ricky Landais, Bates came up empty on three 3-point attempts in the final 9 seconds.

WENTWORTH 59, UNE 49: Eric Prue and Colin Johnson scored 12 points apiece to help the Leopards (10-6, 6-4 Commonwealth Coast) down the Nor’easters (3-14, 3-7) at Biddeford.

Wentworth trailed 27-24 at the half, but opened the second with a 12-2 run and led the rest of the way.

Charles Fenner III had 17 points and seven rebounds for UNE. Marcus Winn added 13 points.

OKLAHOMA ST. 79, (2) MISSOURI 72: Freshman swingman Le’Bryan Nash scored a career-high 27 points, Brian Williams added a career-best 22 and the Cowboys (10-10, Big 12 3-4) knocked off the Tigers (18-2, 5-2) at Stillwater, Okla.

Nash, a McDonald’s All-American, scored 13 points during a 17-4 burst that sent the Cowboys into the lead in the final 4 minutes and the Tigers didn’t have a response.

(4) OHIO STATE 78, PENN STATE 54: Jared Sullinger had 20 points and 13 rebounds as the host Buckeyes (18-3, 6-2 Big Ten) beat the Nittany Lions (10-12, 2-7) for their third straight win.

(8) DUKE 74, MARYLAND 61: Mason Plumlee scored 23 points, and the Blue Devils (17-3, 5-1 ACC) averted their first losing streak of the season by pulling away to beat the Terps (12-7, 2-3) at College Park, Md.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

UNE 79, WENTWORTH 44: Lauren Rousseau scored 20 points and Kelley Paradis had 10 points and seven steals to lead the Nor’easters (14-3, 9-1 Commonwealth Coast) past the Leopards (1-16, 1-9) at Biddeford.

Kendra Kerr had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Wentworth.

BOWDOIN 74, MAINE MARITIME 48: Alexa Barry poured in 21 points in 20 minutes of play for Bowdoin (13-5) in a win over Maine Maritime (8-8) at Castine.

Barry’s 21 points were a career high. Sara Binkhorst added 10 for the Polar Bears, who led 35-19 at halftime.

Sam Goda was the lone player in double figures for Maine Maritime with 16.

(3) UCONN 95, SYRACUSE 54: Tiffany Hayes scored a career-high 35 points, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis added 19 points and eight rebounds, and the Huskies (18-2, 7-1 Big East) pulled away in the second half to beat the host Orange (13-8, 2-5).

(25) NORTH CAROLINA 77, BOSTON COLLEGE 46: Chay Shegog scored 16 points to lead the Tar Heels (15-5, 5-2 ACC) over the visiting Eagles (5-15, 0-7).
