BEVERLY, Mass. — Kelly Coleman scored 19 points, and Beth Suggs had 12 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists as the University of New England women’s basketball team beat Endicott College 71-59 Tuesday night.

The Nor’easters (20-4, 15-2 Commonwealth Coast) secured the top seed in the conference by beating the Gulls (15-9, 12-5).

Coleman scored nine during a 15-7 run that gave UNE a 58-50 lead with 5:39 to play.

Margo Russell added 11 points for UNE. Jennifer White had 11 points and 13 boards for Endicott.

 

BABSON 65, COLBY 59: Nicki Wurdeman scored 24 points for the Beavers (21-2), who took a 31-23 halftime lead and held off the Mules (18-6) at Babson Park, Mass.

Kathleen King added 14 points for Babson. Diana Manduca and Rachael Mack scored 18 apiece for Colby, which got as close as two in the second half.

 

EMMANUEL 60, ST. JOSEPH’S 46: Lena Negri had 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Saints (18-6, 12-0 GNAC) past the Monks (17-7, 11-1) at Boston.

Negri scored 11 in the second half as Emmanuel doubled up St. Joseph’s, 32-16.

Ashley Geel had 12 points and 10 boards for St. Joseph’s. Lindsay Moore chipped in 12 points and Abby Young had 10.

USM 74, PLYMOUTH STATE 52: Courtney Cochran had 18 points and 15 rebounds to become the 20th Southern Maine player to reach 1,000 points as the Huskies (19-5, 10-3 Little East) downed the Panthers (5-18, 1-12) at Gorham.

Cochran finished the game with 1,005 career points and 720 rebounds.

Nicole Garland scored 22 points and Jordan Grant added 15 for Southern Maine. Kellie Walsh led Plymouth State with 17.

 

(4) NOTRE DAME 66, PROVIDENCE 47: Devereaux Peters had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Irish (25-2, 12-1 Big East) over the Friars (13-13, 5-8) at South Bend, Ind.

COLBY 77, UM-PRESQUE ISLE 67: Kyle Donovan scored 15 points to lead four double-digit scorers for the Mules (7-17) against the Owls (3-16) at Waterville.

Colby also got 14 points from Ben Foreman, 13 from Alex Swanson and 11 from Connor O’Neil.

Patrick Manifold scored 28 points for UM-Presque Isle.

 

BATES 76, ST. JOSEPH’S 49: John Squires scored nine of his 15 points in the second half to help the Bobcats (12-12) pull away from the Monks (17-7) at Lewiston.

Reid Christian and Luke Matarazzo added 11 points apiece for Bates, which started the second half with a 10-2 run to go up 40-29.

Zach O’Brien scored 20 points for St. Joseph’s.

 

PLYMOUTH STATE 100, USM 93: Petey Skevas had 23 points, six rebounds and six assists, and Kyle Walker had 22 points and 13 rebounds to help the Panthers (9-14, 4-9 Little East) down the Huskies (10-13, 3-10) in double overtime at Gorham.

Brian Chergey added 20 points for Plymouth State, which outscored Southern Maine 18-11 in the final period after starting with a 6-2 run.

Brandon Tomah scored 22 points and Chris Pagentine had 21 for the Huskies. Alex Kee chipped in 12 points, and Connor Sullivan had 13 points and eight rebounds.

ENDICOTT 68, UNE 57: Erik Callo had 17 points and 12 rebounds, and John Henault scored 16 points to lead the Gulls (16-8, 11-6 Commonwealth Coast) past the Nor’easters (6-18, 6-11) at Beverly, Mass.

Charles Fenner III scored 21 points and Ryan Knotek had 13 for UNE, which trailed 35-21 at halftime.

 

(6) OHIO STATE 78, MINNESOTA 68: William Buford scored 24 points to spark the Buckeyes (22-4, 10-3 Big Ten), and Jared Sullinger backed him up inside with 23 points and eight rebounds in beating the Gophers (17-9, 5-8) at Minneapolis.

 

TCU 102, (11) UNLV 97: Hank Thorns scored eight of his 32 points in overtime as the Horned Frogs (15-10, 5-4 Mountain West) overcame an 18-point deficit to beat the Runnin’ Rebels (22-5, 6-3) at Fort Worth, Texas.

MEN’S HOCKEY

UMAINE: Brian Flynn, Will O’Neill and Joey Diamond were among 21 semifinalists named for the Walter Brown Award, which recognizes the best American-born college hockey player in New England.

The finalists and the winner will be announced by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston in March.
