At Maine History Day, the following Bonny Eagle Middle School and High School students won awards in several categories. The students will be representing the state of Maine and their schools at National History Day in Washington DC in June.
Middle School winners going to nationals include Andrea Ballute, who won first place for an individual project entitled “An Inside Perspective: American War Correspondents through History;” Stacy Sullivan, who won first place for an historical paper entitled “Right Under their Noses: The Navajo Code Talkers;” and Shannon Jacobson, who won second place for an individual documentary entitled “Emma Goldman and Communicating to Women in History.”
High School winners going to nationals include Kim Simonsen and Griffin Sherry for their first place group project entitled “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words – An Era in Photographs;” James Hanley, who won first place for an individual project entitled, “The Origins of Rock: The Musical Genealogy of the King;” and Casey McKague, who won second place for the historical paper entitled “The Pony Express: Communications Across America.”
