Raymond and Casco fire departments responded to an early morning fire at Sabre Yachts on Hawthorne Road in Raymond on Monday morning.

The fire started in the boiler room of the boat building facility and, according to Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Tupper, did “very little damage” to surrounding areas because of Sabre’s sprinkler system.

“There were a few scorched boards above the Sheetrock on the floor joists just above the boiler, but other than that the sprinklers kept it in check; they basically took care of the fire,” Tupper said.

No one was injured in the fire which broke out at 5:33 a.m. Smoke tripped an alarm which automatically notified the Raymond fire department. The first engine was at the scene within minutes and the fire was contained by 5:45 a.m. By 6:45 a.m. fire crews has cleaned up and vacated the premises.
