Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins this week announced that a $6,748 grant has been awarded to Saint Joseph’s College in Standish from the Department of Heath and Human Services’ HRSA Division of Grants Management Operations. The funds will be allocated toward a Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students.

“Providing disadvantaged students with access to educational funding is one of the first and most important steps toward ensuring equal opportunity and education for everyone,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. “We are sure that the recent grant from the Department of Health and Human Services will be put to good use by Saint Josephs College and that it will greatly aid those students that need it most.”

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the United States government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) improves the nation’s health by assuring equal access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality health care for all.
