The Scarborough Junior League Softball All-Stars captured another District 6 fastpitch softball championship this past Saturday, going 4-0 during the tournament.

In the semi-final, Shannon Stone pitched a complete game, allowing two hits, no walks with 15 strikeouts in leading Scarborough to a 4-1 victory over South Portland. Catie Funk and Reegan Brackett had two hits apiece.

In the district final, Scarborough defeated Suburban 14-11 in a wild, back and forth game. Heather Carrier, who reached base five times, with four hits and a walk, scoring four runs, led Scarborough’s offensive attack. Stone pitched the final inning for the save.

Scarborough now advances to the 2005 Maine State Championship Tournament in Bangor beginning Friday, July 22 through Monday, July 25. In this age group, collectively, Scarborough has won five District Championships and three Maine state championships in the last four years.
