Frank Spencer, Scarborough High School Athletic Director Frank Spencer introduced Chris Kempton as the Red Storm’s new varsity football coach on Sunday, March 4.

Kempton has 21 years of coaching experience and his most recent position was with Bates College where he was the defensive backfield and special teams coach. He also coached at Colby College for six years and he’s coached at the high school level as well.

“Everything from the get-go has been extremely positive,” Kempton said about the interview process and his eventual hiring at Scarborough. “There’s a lot of enthusiasm from the community. There are great boosters and Scarborough has a great feeder system. A lot of pieces to the puzzle are in place.”

And the biggest pieces to that football puzzle – the players themselves – have already shown their determination and work ethic to their new coach.

“”We’ve had four sessions in the weight room and we’ve had over 30 kids participate,” Kempton said. “These kids are hungry and they’re eager and excited (about playing football). The biggest thing is coming together as a team.”
