The Scarborough sports community is cordially invited to attend an informational discussion on Sports Done Right at the Scarborough Board of Education Meeting Thursday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in the Scarborough Municipal Building.

Sports Done Right is a program sponsored by the University of Maine’s Center for Sport and Coaching which assists communities in developing effective practices and policies for all of its sports programs. This Maine-developed program is being hailed as one of the finest, most comprehensive guides of its kind and is now being copied throughout the United States.

Through adoption of the Sports Done Right philosophy, schools take

proactive steps in ensuring that their athletic teams – including coaches, athletes, administrators, parents, and spectators – adhere to a high standard of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. It is vital that the entire community of Scarborough, especially those now involved or intending to be involved in athletic activities, be represented at this meeting. From community service programs to club and travel sports to school-sponsored varsity teams and interested citizens – all stakeholders are encouraged to attend and assist in making an informed decision regarding Scarborough’s commitment to Sports Done Right.

For more information about Sports Done Right, log on to the internet and direct your browser to www.sportsdonerightmaine.org, or contact Andrew Dolloff, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, at 730-4100.

We hope to see you on March 15 as we learn more about Sports Done Right.

*There is one brief agenda item prior to the Sports Done Right discussion. We hope to begin the presentation by 7:30 p.m. at the latest.
