Four awards to local businesses were given out Oct. 24 during the annual meeting of the Scarborough Economic Development Corp.

Maine Molecular Quality Controls Inc. was named Technology Business of the Year.

Ace Hardware was named Small Business of the Year, and Freaky Bean Coffee Co. was named Entrepreneurial Business of the Year.

Camp Ketcha was named Nonprofit Business of the Year.

Also during the meeting, president Harvey Rosenfeld spoke about the changes Scarborough is currently undergoing. Guest speaker was Vincent Conti, president and CEO of Maine Medical Center.

Elected as officers of the corporation were Roger Beeley (Beeley Insurance & Investing), chairman; Diane Chiarantona (KeyBank), vice chairman; Jim Damicis (PolicyOne Research), treasurer; and Amelia Kurtz (KeyBank), clerk.
