Being environmentally responsible has its rewards. In Scarborough, it has its awards.
Winners of the 2008 Woodin Awards, named after Scarborough businessman and noted conservationist Eddie Wooden and administered by a local committee, have been announced. The awards recognize responsible motor vehicle driving and other responsible environmental practices.
The winners are: Best Carpooler, Sue Timpson of Spurwink Road; Lowest Carbon Footprinter, Ellen Flaherty of Coulthard Farms Road, and “Best Reduced-Mileage Family,” Susie DeGrinney of North Scarborough.
Dan Warren, Woodin Committee chair, says a photo session with the three winners is tentatively scheduled for Ground Hog Day, Monday, Feb. 2, in Scarborough.
