BRUNSWICK — The Fire Department and the state fire marshal’s office are investigating a blaze that tore through a home at 209 Pleasant St. Wednesday afternoon.
Five departments responded to the fire at just before 5 p.m. Brunswick Deputy Chief Sandy Carleton said Thursday that the fire gutted the home. She said investigators were at the scene Thursday morning, but had not released the cause of the fire.
Carleton said first responders noticed an outdoor fire near the two-story house when they arrived. She said three children were playing nearby. She said the owners were home at the time of the blaze, but nobody was injured.
After the fire was contained, firefighters found a dog alive in the house. Carleton said the dog was transported to an emergency veterinary clinic in Lewiston.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 9 p.m. Wednesday night. During the fire, police rerouted northbound Pleasant Street traffic to Old Portland Road.
