SOUTH PORTLAND – A family business that bills itself as Maine’s largest furniture and mattress superstore is coming to the Maine Mall area.
The Furniture Superstore at 245 Western Avenue will open Friday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m., according to William Abrams, one of the Abrams family members that owns and operates the business.
The new business is located in the 40,000-square-foot building formerly occupied by Ashley Furniture.
The Abrams have another Furniture Superstore in Lisbon. That 62,000-square-foot store opened in 2002.
Abrams said the new South Portland store will carry the same items but is more convenient for shoppers in the greater Portland area.
Friday is the store’s soft opening, Abrams said. A grand opening is scheduled for Veteran’s Day, with sales and promotions that day and into the weekend, Abrams said.
