Portland kids win Hoop Shoot
Portland’s Isabel Dawson and Katasia Titherington won their respective age groups in the Elks Hoop Shoot contest Sunday at McAuley High School. Dawson was tops in the girls’ 8-9 age division, while Titherington won the girls’ 10-11 group. The two advanced to the district championship Sunday at Bath Middle School.
SMCC hoops teams earn wins
The Southern Maine Community College women’s basketball team defeated Briarcliffe College (64-59) and John Abbott College (69-65) last week to improve to 7-5 on the season. In the first game, Amanda Chandler, Alisa Sweet and Darcey Webster all scored 18 points. Against John Abbott, Rachel Del Camp went off for 27 points, while Sweet added 17. The men improved to 7-7 on the year with a 119-104 victory over John Abbott Saturday. Paul Holland led the way with 25 points.
Waynflete seeking 7th grade lax coach

USM hosting 3-on-3 benefit tournament

Pitching clinic features former Deering star
Former Deering High standout Ryan Reid, now a member of the Tampa Bay Rays organization, along with Portland Sea Dogs hurler Ryne Lawson will conduct a pitching clinic Saturday, Jan. 23 at Falmouth Middle School.
