BANGOR — A Maine teenager has been indicted for murder in the shooting death of another teenager on a Bangor street.
The Bangor Daily News says 18-year-old Zachary Carr was indicted today for the death of 19-year-old John “Bobby” Surles.
A police affidavit says Carr shot an unarmed Surles with a 9 mm handgun on the evening of Jan. 27 outside a Cumberland Street apartment house. Surles died the next night at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Carr was arrested two days after the shooting.
Police described Surles as a former Bangor resident who was most recently considered a transient.
