SOUTH PORTLAND – South Portland police say the same crew that robbed a Maine Mall jewelry store of more than $125,000 in high-end jewelry Monday also tried to rip off a jewelry store in Auburn the following day.

Sgt. Steven Webster said the crew was not able to take anything from the Days Jewelry store in Auburn. But they were caught on tape (see attached photos).

According to Webster, two individuals entered GM Pollack and Sons at around 6:30 p.m. Monday and distracted employees while another person removed more than $125,000 worth of high-end jewelry from a display case in the store.

“This group seemed to be well organized and experienced. There are indications that they are not from this area, and they may be traveling. They were at the Maine Mall on Saturday evening and returned again on Monday, when the theft occurred,” the release said.

The suspects are described as: a dark-skinned black man, around 6 feet 7 inches tall, with bad teeth and wearing a black jacket with gray stripes; a dark-skinned black man, around 5 feet 10 inches tall and 200 pounds, wearing dark-rimmed glasses; and a light-skinned black woman with yellowish-orange hair, a large mole on the side of her head, and wearing dark-rimmed glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Portland Police Department at 799-9720.
