BERWICK — The York County sheriff says investigators have broken up a burglary ring run by four New Hampshire residents that had targeted empty homes in southwestern Maine.
Sheriff Maurice Ouellette said Wednesday the four individuals would drive around rural areas in the morning, knock on doors and if no one was home they would burglarize the residences.
Ouellette says the four burglarized between 15 and 20 homes, many in Berwick.
He says investigators solved the case with the help of tips from pawn shop owners and good, old fashioned police work.
Officials say 22-year-old Joseph Saylor; 19-year-old Jillian Walsh; 21-year-old Derek Buzzell and 20-year-old Brandon Beaulieau are facing charges.
