WISCASSET – Learn about bugs, invasive insects and the “beetle busters” in the Chewonki program “Lurking in the Trees.”
The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. April 30 at Chewonki’s Center for Environmental Education.
The family-friendly evening will feature the film “Lurking in the Trees,” a 30-minute documentary about a community infested with the Asian longhorned beetle, and how it chose to stop the spread of this tree-killing pest.
Experts from the Maine Forest Service and Department of Agriculture will be on hand to speak about the devastating impact the beetle can have, and what can be done to protect Maine’s trees.
The program includes hands-on crafts, displays, beetles in costume and live bugs.
