FORT KENT — Tuition is going up at Maine’s seven state-run universities.
The University of Maine System Board of Trustees today approved hiking tuition for in-state undergraduates by an average of 4.8 percent. The board met in Fort Kent.
At the university system’s flagship campus in Orono, tuition is going up 5.5 percent to $10,142 a year. It’s going up 4 to 5 percent at the other campuses.
Chancellor Richard Pattenaude said it’s the smallest tuition increase in six years.
