WESTBROOK — The city of Westbrook, IDEXX, and Pike Industries have reached a consent agreement that will allow Pike to remain in Westbrook.
Mayor Colleen Hilton confirmed tonight that an out of court agreement has been reached. The mayor said details of the agreement will be released on Friday during a press conference at City Hall.
Hilton confirmed that the agreement limits Pike to conducting eight blasts at its Spring Street quarry.
Artel, which is located on Bradley Street in Westbrook’s Five Star business park, responded tonight, saying it will be forced to leave the city of Westbrook if a judge approves the consent agreement.
“If Pike blasts, Artel must leave,” said Kirby Pilcher, the company president. “We’ve always obeyed all laws and regulations in Westbrook, but Pike has not. If this agreement is signed as written, they’re getting rewarded for bad behavior, and we’re getting shown the door.”
