LEWISTON — About 150 gravestones at a cemetery in Lewiston have been toppled by vandals.
The Lewiston Sun Journal reports some of he stones were 200 years old and weighed 1,000 pounds or more at the Riverside Cemetery.
Groundskeeper Kevin Ouellette estimates the damage at $30,000 to $40,000. The damage was discovered Friday morning.
Police are investigating the vandalism at the 40-acre cemetery.
