BANGOR — Visitors to the American Folk Festival in Bangor will have the opportunity to view Chevrolet’s new addition to the electric car market.
The 2011 Chevrolet Volt, a front wheel drive, four passenger electric vehicle that can travel up to 40 miles on electricity stored in its battery, will be on display throughout the three day festival which starts Friday.
It will be the first time that the 2011 Volt has been on display in New England, according to The Maine Chevy Dealers association.
The Volt uses electricity as its primary source of power and gasoline as its secondary power source.
The vehicle’s gas-powered, range extending engine takes over to provide electrical power for up to 300 additional miles of travel.
According to Tim Reardon, a manager at Quirk Chevrolet in Portland, the Volt’s base retai price starts at $41,000.
