NORTH BERWICK – Shawn Goodrich rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns, and Jon Schroder added 88 yards and a score Friday night to lead Sanford to a 43-6 victory against Noble in a Western Class A football opener.

Goodrich scored on runs of 50, 2 and 13 yards, and Schroder scored on a 14-yard run.

Justin Carlson added 90 yards rushing for Sanford, which had 451 total yards, all on the ground, and led 21-6 at halftime.

Ethan Beaulier threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jake Guimond for Noble.

WELLS 21, GREELY 14: Paul McDonough ran for one touchdown and passed for a second as the Warriors won at Wells.

After scoring on a 1-yard run in the second quarter, McDonough hit Nathan Chase with a late 12-yard pass to break a 14-14 tie.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 45, LAKE REGION 6: Cam Kaubris threw for one touchdown and rushed for two more to help the Falcons win at Rumford.

Taylor Bradley also rushed for two touchdowns.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 36, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6: Fryeburg Academy scored 36 unanswered points through three quarters at Gray.

The Patriots then scored the only points of the fourth quarter.

LEWISTON 21, OXFORD HILLS 0: Jeff Keene rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns, and Joe McKinnon had 97 yards and one touchdown to lead the Blue Devils at South Paris.

Jeff Turcotte added 69 yards rushing for Lewiston. Middle linebacker Ben Wigant led the Blue Devils in tackles.

ROCKLAND 16, ORONO 12: Derek Miller ran for 135 yards on 19 carries and threw a touchdown pass, and Jared Meklin added 67 yards on 13 carries for the Tigers, who held on at Orono.

Rockland opened the scoring on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Miller to Dan Hendricks on the final play of the first quarter. A 2-point conversion pass made it 8-0.

Orono cut the deficit to 8-6 on a 1-yard run by Dominic Mowrer with 1:52 left in the half.

Joe Nelson returned the ensuing kickoff 50 yards for the Tigers, who went on to score with two seconds left in the half on a 13-yard pass from Sam Meklin to Hendricks.

The Red Riots cut the deficit to 16-12 with 10:07 left when Christian Mowrer scored on a 1-yard run that was set up by a 57-yard punt return by Dominic Mowrer.

Dominic Mowrer finished with 101 yards on 17 carries to lead Orono. He also had an interception.

BANGOR 49, SKOWHEGAN 0: Josiah Hartley ran for 125 yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns as Bangor won at Skowhegan.

Hartley went 8 yards on his first carry, then sprinted 28 yards on his next before being pushed out of bounds inside the 1. Two plays later, Hartley scored his first touchdown.

After Nic Cota intercepted an Ethan Johnson pass and returned it 15 yards to midfield, Hartley ran 43 yards for his second touchdown and a 14-0 lead with 3:15 left in the first quarter.

Hartley added an 8-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

MT. BLUE 15, MESSALONSKEE 12: Shawn Keach kicked a 25-yard field goal with 1:13 left as Mt. Blue won at Farmington.

The win snapped a four-game Mt. Blue losing streak to the Eagles on opening day.

“Both teams had tremendous line play. It was a battle all night,” Mt. Blue Coach Gary Parlin said. “I told the team we needed to win 51 percent of the line play because Messalonskee has tough linemen who are well coached.”

Keach’s field goal came after Justin Tinsman of Messalonskee scored from 5 yards to make it 12-12 with 4:02 remaining.

WINTHROP 64, MADISON 18: The Ramblers scored on all nine of their possessions in the first half and cruised past the Bulldogs at Winthrop.

Ryan Conant scored a pair of touchdowns and rushed for 216 yards in first half, and Travis Luce completed three of four passes for 66 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for a TD.

GARDINER 27, WINSLOW 7: Alonzo Connor rushed for 187 yards and scored three touchdowns, and the Tigers overcame a 7-0 halftime deficit at Gardiner.

Connor had TD runs of 4, 1 and 24 yards.
