AUGUSTA — Gov. John Baldacci says Mainers have some important decisions to make Tuesday and is urging people to get to the polls.

In his weekly radio address, the governor says the campaign’s been a tough one but the rough-and-tumble nature of the process tests the character of the candidates.

The Democratic governor doesn’t mention candidates he favors, but says he supports the two bond issues on the ballot, $5 million to expand access to dentists in rural areas and help create a dental school, and nearly $10 million for working waterfronts, access to outdoor recreation and state parks.

On the proposal to allow a casino in Oxford County, Baldacci said he opposes an expansion of gambling in Maine.
