LIMERICK — A four-unit apartment building on Maple Street in Limerick suffered heavy damage after a late morning fire broke out in the building earlier today.

The Limerick Fire Department said the fire at 10 Maple St., which was reported around 11:30 a.m., destroyed the building’s roof and caused heavy damage to the second floor.

No one was injured, but an investigator from the State Fire Marshall’s Office was called in to determine the cause.

Firefighters from the towns of Newfield, Cornish and Waterboro responded to the fire.
