FRYEBURG — Martha Veroneau sank three 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Waynflete to a 53-30 win over Fryeburg Academy in a Western Maine Conference girls’ basketball game Monday night.

Samantha Oakland contributed 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Waynflete (2-0) finished with 10 3-pointers and outscored Fryeburg 32-16 in the second half.

Katie Heggie had 12 points for Fryeburg (1-1).

 

LAKE REGION 53, WELLS 28: Abby Craffey scored 14 of her 17 points in the first half as Lake Region (1-1) built a 29-15 halftime lead at Wells (0-2).

Alison Clark added 10 points for the Lakers. Kelsey Bragdon led the Warriors with eight.

GREELY 44, YARMOUTH 16: Chelsea Bridges scored 11 points and Megan Coale added 10 to lead the Rangers (2-0) at Yarmouth (1-1).

Bridges had 10 points in the first half, and Coale and Sarah Warnock each scored seven as the Rangers took a 33-2 lead.

 

HEBRON ACADEMY 29, PINE TREE ACADEMY 10: Janelle Bradish scored 14 points to lead the Lumberjacks (1-1) over the Breakers (0-2) at Hebron.

Kaitlyn Paiton added eight points.

Gentille Sandy scored eight of Pine Tree’s 10 points.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

BOOTHBAY 75, LISBON 34: Dan Dickinson broke an 18-year-old school record by sinking seven baskets from beyond the 3-point arc for the Seahawks (1-1) in their win at home over the Greyhounds (0-2).

Dickinson scored 25 points, and Chad Carroll added eight points and 13 rebounds.

Boothbay took control early, building a 47-22 halftime lead.

WISCASSET 63, GEORGES VALLEY 47: Ashton Benn scored 16 points to help the Redskins (2-0) beat the Buccaneers (0-2) at Thomaston.

Devin Grover added 12 points and Mason Brewer grabbed 16 rebounds for Wiscasset, which erased a 23-18 halftime deficit.

Ben Wallace scored 14 points for Georges Valley.

 

HALL-DALE 42, ST. DOMINIC 30: The Bulldogs used a balanced attack to turn back the Saints at Farmingdale.

Sam Shepherd had nine points and two blocked shots for the Bulldogs (1-1), who led 28-8 at halftime. Austin Bechard contributed six points and four steals, and Brad Shepherd scored eight points.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

THORNTON ACADEMY 9, PORTLAND 1: CJ Maksut had two goals and two assists, and Andrew Carignan had a goal and three assists for the Golden Trojans (1-1) in a win over the Bulldogs (1-1) at Biddeford Ice Arena.

Eddie Apon gave Portland a 1-0 lead just 22 seconds into the game. Thornton led 2-1 after one period, then broke it open with five goals in the second.
