BRUNSWICK – Justin Meader scored 27 points Tuesday night to lead Messalonskee to a 61-57 overtime victory against Brunswick in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference schoolboy basketball game.

Kevin McPherson added 12 points for Messalonskee (3-3), which outscored the Dragons 13-9 in overtime.

Mitchell Black led Brunswick (2-3) with 19 points.

 

LAWRENCE 72, MORSE 38: Spencer Carey finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and four steals to lead Lawrence (4-2) over Morse (0-6) at Bath.

Xavier Scott scored 15 points and Shaun Carroll 13 for Lawrence, which led 32-17 at halftime. Emmett Faulkner didn’t score but did finish with five assists.

HAMPDEN ACADEMY 68, MT. ARARAT 44: Christian McCue scored a game-high 20 points for the Broncos (4-1) against the Eagles (3-2) at Topsham.

Graham Safford added 14 points. Josh Walker led Mt. Ararat with 15.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

HAMPDEN ACADEMY 59, MT. ARARAT 31: Michaela Stephenson scored 13 points and Katelyn DeRaps added 12 as the Broncos (5-0) defeated the Eagles (2-3) at Hampden.

The Broncos expanded their 20-12 halftime lead to 40-18 by outscoring the Eagles 20-6 in the third quarter.

MORSE 63, LAWRENCE 15: Nikoline Ostergaard scored 15 points, including nine in the first quarter for the Shipbuilders (6-0), who opened with a 23-9 run against the Bulldogs (1-5) at Bath.

Tori Field added 12 points with 11 steals, and Crystal Leavitt finished with 10 points for Morse.

 

MESSALONSKEE 56, BRUNSWICK 48: Mickee McCafferty had 17 points and 11 rebounds as the Eagles (5-1) beat the Dragons (4-2) in overtime at Brunswick.

WATERVILLE 12, BRUNSWICK 2: The Purple Panthers (3-2) scored four goals in each period to cruise past Brunswick (1-4) at Waterville.

GIRLS’ HOCKEY

BRUNSWICK 9, ST. DOMINIC 1: Rachel Moroney scored twice for the Dragons (3-5-1) against the Saints (7-1) at Auburn.

Annie Kelley added four assists.
