“The Thinking Heart – the Life and Loves of Etty Hillesum” will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Maine Jewish Museum, Etz Chaim Synagogue, 267 Congress St.

Gray-New Gloucester Middle School will present a program to the New Gloucester Historical Society at 6:30 p.m. Thursday about a recent field trip related to local history.

Four financial workshops

Kennebunk Free Library, 112 Main St., will present four free financial workshops, beginning with “Foundations of Investing” on Tuesday.

Kindergarten registrations

Kennebunk Elementary School and the Consolidated School both will accept kindergarten registrations from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday for children planning to attend classes at those respective schools this fall.

Children who will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15 are eligible to enroll. The district requires that parents provide a copy of their child’s birth certificate and immunization records along with proof of residency.

Cancer care program

The next American Cancer Society “Look Good Feel Better” support group will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at 27 Industrial Ave., in the Conference Room off the main lobby.

Junior bowling league

The Sanford Parks and Recreation Department and BowlARama are accepting signups for a 13-week after-school junior bowling league Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Bowl-A-Rama, Main Street,

The program for students ages 8 and older enrolled in the Sanford school system. A one-time fee of $10 will be charged. Shoe rentals are $2 per session. Transportation will be offered, with arrangements required at the time of registration.

Life writing workshops

Kirsten Cronin of Kirsten Transcribes in Rockland will host a series of Life Writing Workshops at Lincoln Street Center for the Arts and Education the fourth Wednesday of January, February, March, April and May.

The first session, on writing a memoir, will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 26. Workshops are $40 for all five workshops or $10 per session.

Pies on Parade tour

The town will kick off its seventh annual Pies on Parade Pie Tour from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The Historic Inns of Rockland have organized the event to raise money for hungry families in the midcoast.

To date, more than $30,000 has been raised to benefit the Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry and Fuel Assistance Program. When matched with other funds, the money raised from this event feeds more than 100 midcoast families for a year.

Matter of Balance program

Spectrum Generations’ Coastal Community Center, in partnership with the Lincoln Home, will offer the eight-week workshop “A Matter of Balance,” designed to help people overcome their fear of falling and thus increase their activity levels.

The Naples Public Library, 940 Roosevelt Trail, will host a free, 50-minute digital slide show on Maine’s rich skiing heritage at 7 p.m. today.
