Top-ranked Cheverus held off No. 2 Bonny Eagle in a low-scoring Western Class A boys’ final to capture its third regional title in four seasons with a 30-27 win Monday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Cheverus (21-0) will play either Bangor or Edward Little for the state title on Saturday night at the Augusta Civic Center.

The first 30 and a half minutes featured defense and stagnant offense. The game finally picked up in the final 1:30, as the Scots (17-4) hit two 3-pointers to take a 27-26 lead, only to see Griffin Brady answer with a decisive 3-pointer for Cheverus.
