PORTLAND — Leave your sneakers at home, ladies and gentlemen.

The 2nd Annual Stiletto Challenge will be held next month to raise money for three local causes that help fight cancer. The race, to be held at 5 p.m. May 19 at DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant on Commercial Street, will feature three 100-yard dashes in the parking lot for prizes and bragging rights. There will be a men’s and women’s race, and a team challenge. Participants are required to compete wearing three-inch stiletto heels with no wedges.

Prizes will be given for the best stiletto, the best male and female outfit and the best group costume.

Proceeds of the event will benefit Lift Up Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the PLGA Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping children who are struggling with brain tumors.

Following the race, there will be an after-party at DiMillo’s, with music provided by the Tim Sullivan Band. The cost to participate is $25 before May 1 or $30 after. The cost for a team to enter the race is $75.
