The original Foley’s Bakery will be moving into the space formerly occupied by the Mousse Cafe and Bake Shop in Portland’s Monument Square. The first Foley’s on Congress Street was known (at least among newspaper folk) for having some of the best carrot cake in town.

Gogi, a new Portland restaurant featuring Korean barbecue and Mexican fusion, held its grand opening Tuesday at 653 Congress St. According to the owner, Ian Farnsworth, the menu includes items such as kimchee fried rice, a marinated shiitake mushroom quesadilla and pulled-pork tacos. The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week and remain open until 2 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Farnsworth also owns Slainte Wine Bar and Lounge on Preble Street.

According to Mainebiz, a family from Boston will be opening a new Italian restaurant at 7 Exchange St., Portland. The restaurant is expected to open sometime this month.

Havana South, 44-50 Wharf St., is offering a new “sort of” BYOB option on Mondays and Tuesdays. Bring in your own wine, and the Portland restaurant will charge a corkage fee of $2.50.

According to the blog Portlandfoodmap.com, a new grocery store called “Mr. Delicious” will be opening at 7 Pillsbury St. in Willard Square sometime in mid-July.

Bathras Market, a popular South Portland neighborhood spot that closed in 1989 after 35 years in business, will reopen at 412 Preble St. sometime in May, “with a revitalized and updated vision that still holds true to the legacy of the neighborhood store that so many loved.” That means the store will carry only organic, local foods with no artificial colors, flavors or MSG; antibiotics or artificial growth hormones; high-fructose corn syrup; trans fats or partially hydrogenated oils; or chemical fragrances or cleaning agents. The new market, which is being resurrected by its previous owners, is located next door to Scratch Baking Co. For more information, go to www.bathrasmarket.com.
