RINGTONES are quickly becoming one of the best ways to customize your phone and make it special. Whether it’s switching every person in your phonebook list to their own unique ringtone or just wanting a wide selection to choose from, phone users are getting into having a ringtone library. Nearly all phones come with an automatic app link to a marketplace where users can find Top 40 songs, TV themes, video game sounds and classical music. Apple users can go straight to iTunes and make ringtones or buy them. That includes some of the most popular songs from today and old favorites, too. For the Android, clicking on the “Market” app in the main menu will get a list of popular ringtones and games. For other places to buy quality ringtones, check out Ringophone.com. It’s a great website because it allows users to pay a flat free — $14.99 for six months or $19.99 for a year — and get unlimited ringtones. Tonemine and MonsterTones are also good locations online.

MYXER was brought up twice by our readers. It’s a website founded in 2005 that offers lots of free music downloads. Not all carriers allow Myxer; the T-Mobile Sidekick, several Verizon Wireless phones and Boost Mobile, Nextel and Telus Mobility have disabled the ability to use it. For everyone else, Myxer is a great place to look, and you can make your own ringtone through the site. Other websites to search for free ringtones are PhoneZoo and Ventones.
